5 Reasons Why Girls Go For Short Hairstyles

With seeing many celebrities chopping off their long locks it has become a question asked by many as to why girls go for the shorter style. Most girls could never rack up the nerve because. It's hard to let go of long hair. Finding the right hairstyle for yourself is ultimately difficult, too. It appears as if these girls snipped away with no problem. But, why?
Halle Berry, Emma Watson, Miley Cyrus... all chopped! These celebrity women have caused a trend of short hairstyles to arise out of the world. We ask ourselves why? Why would they go for shorter hair? Especially when it was so pretty before. Each individual woman is completely different so it's hard to tell why anyone does anything, especially trying out these new hairstyles. Why do girls find themselves attracted to this length? There are multiple reasons that could lead a woman to this decision. Here's five reasons.
A Sign of Rebellion!
It's a way to reject gender expectations and show that not only guys can have short hair. Some girls do it to express themselves in a way that says, "I'm different and I don't care what you think!"
Coping With Stress.
Sometimes out of nowhere a girl takes the sharp plunge of chopping off her beautiful tresses. Studies say that girls who go through awful breakups cut their hair as a coping mechanism. It can be hard to get over someone after a bad breakup. But, hair is the one thing a girl can control in the situation and offers aid to move on.
Being A Mom.
Some women say that being a mom is a great cause for going for a shorter look. With a new baby it's hard to find time to keep up on looks. It could also be due to the fact that children love to pull on and rip out longer hair. Going short solves that problem.
It's Time For Change.
Eventually every person feels an urge to change something drastic in their life at least once. Some girls take to changing the soaps they're using, some change their wardrobe and some change the hairstyle they sport. Short hairstyles are becoming more popular and more girls want to try it out. It's a way to create a fresh start and redefine who they are.
Long Hair Can Be a Burden.
Long hair requires a lot of effort. It takes a lot of products to keep it beautiful and after time the costs add up. It ends up getting in food or clogging the drains. In the summer it gets hot! When it comes to long hair vs. short hair, most women agree that short hair wins on being less burdensome.

How to Improve Your Skin With Healing Light

How important is it to you for your skin to look healthier and more vibrant? Have you tried every cream under the sun or even considered plastic surgery in order to improve your skin? It can be extremely frustrating when you pour your hard earned money into the latest and greatest cream or potion only to look in the mirror and see absolutely no changes in your skin. Don't despair, there is an alternative treatment that can make a significant difference in the appearance of your skin without any risk. LED light therapy harnesses the power of light drenching your skin with therapeutic properties.
Red light emitting diodes (LEDs) ranging from 625-660 nanometers and infrared LEDs ranging from 860-880 nanometers penetrate deep into all the layers of your skin as well as your tissue, igniting a plethora of positive responses at a deep cellular level. As the cells are engulfed in healing light, the specific wavelengths permeate into the cells where they repair, heal, increase circulation, stimulate collagen and elastin production, and boost cellular energy.
It's a technology that visibly improves the skin without the risk of surgery, chemicals, or needles. With regular use plus time the cells begin to repair themselves reducing wrinkles, diminishing scars, fading age spots, shrinking pores, promoting a more even skin tone, and tightening and firming the skin.
Light therapy treatments offer a gentle yet powerful means for improving your skin without any downtime or pain. In fact, it's a facial you can do during your lunch break and return to work with a beautiful glow. Originally discovered by NASA to accelerate healing and ease pain in injuries that occurred in outer space it has since been researched and studied by an enormous number of medical professionals revealing many skin rejuvenation powers within the LEDs.
Due to its efficacy, LED light therapy is implemented by dermatologists, physicians, facialists to the stars, spas, and exclusive resorts. For those in search of a safe and effective means for improving their skin, light therapy treatments offer a way to revitalize and refresh the complexion without harmful side effects or the risk of altering your appearance in a negative way permanently.
Treating your skin with LED light therapy is an incredibly simple procedure. You simply sit in front of the light emitting diodes and relax. The wavelengths soak your skin in healing and reparative light while your body readily accepts the lights due to the high content of blood and water. You need to be consistent and patient with the treatments as your damaged skin won't be repaired over night. But, with time your skin will get better and better and will look more youthful with a beautiful healthy glow.

Four Ways to Improve Indoor Air Quality for Better Health and Wellbeing

If everyone knows about the incredible curative power of fresh air and harnesses it for healing, there will be an unstoppable epidemic of good health. In fact, every ancient culture and system of healthcare incorporates the power of the breath for achieving equilibrium of the body and mind. Deep abdominal breathing of fresh air is prescribed for longevity and wellness.
Unfortunately, most urban residents are not breathing the kind of air that the human race is made to thrive in.
The element that sets fresh air apart from bad air is the electrical component. Fresh air is highly electrified. In natural environments, air has an abundance of highly mobile electrically charged molecules called ions. These ions are essential to life and have a biological effect on all living things. Breathing air rich in ions promotes health while breathing ion-depleted air breeds diseases.
Air ions are short-lived and are nature's air cleaners. They convey their electrical charge readily to airborne particles which having acquired a charge, clump together and fall out of the atmosphere. Thus, the more polluted the environment the more severe the ion deficiency.
Unfortunately, the indoor air of modern homes and offices is grievously lacking in air ions. The cause of many 21st century health issues has to do with the bad indoor air that we breathe consistently. While smokestacks and diesel trucks are major culprits of air pollution, the US Environmental Protection Agency says that the air inside people's homes can be 2 to 5 times more polluted than the air outside.
Modern homes and offices are typically tightly sealed and insulated from the outside air. All kinds of combustion within the indoor environment like burning, smoking or even breathing deplete oxygen ions. A cocktail of chemical pollutants from the use of detergents and aerosols as well as the off gassing of furnishings made from synthetic materials, circulate indoor indefinitely. Air conditioning and electrical fields surrounding appliances all severely disturb the ion balance of the air we breathe.
In an ion deprived environment, airborne particles drift about in prevailing air currents, exacerbating allergies, asthma and respiratory difficulties. Disease germs, in spite of strong antibacterial cleaners, breed and propagate throughout the indoor space passing infections from one person to another.
Distorted air ion balance also contributes to depression, hyperactivity, aggression, anxieties, insomnia, lack of libido and suppressed immunity. On the other hand, healthy levels of air ions increase our lung capacity, boost the immune system, help us breathe better, assist in recovery from illness, alleviate allergies, elevate our mood and help us cope with stress.
Straining out pollutants through high quality filters will do little to improve the wellbeing of the people living and working indoors, until a healthful supply of ions is continuously supplied to the environment. Russian ion scientist A.L. Tchijewsky after years of studying air electricity concluded that "an organism receiving the cleanest type of air is condemned to serious illness if the air does not contain at least a small quantity of air ions."
To effectively improve indoor air quality, we must restore a healthy level of air ions to the air we breathe:
1) Ventilate
An opened window will do wonders in lifting spirits and clearing the clutter of the mind by letting in healthful ions from outside to enliven the room.
2) Keep house plants, build water fountains
Waterfalls, natural forests and crashing waves at the beach produce large amounts of air ions. This explains the good feeling people experience at these places.
The ancient Chinese practise, Feng Shui promotes the use of water fountains, sprays and ferns to achieve interior harmony and a healthy living environment. All these items generate air ions.
3) Eliminate the causes of indoor pollutants
We can significant improve indoor air quality by cutting down on the use of household chemicals and switching to cleaning products that do not contain Volatile Organic Chemicals (VOCs).
4) Install a medical grade air ionizer
Electrically generating the necessary air ions and propagating them throughout the closed environment with a medical grade air ionizer is an effective and economic solution. In choosing an air ionizer, beware of the extravagant claims of manufacturers of inferior ionizing machines which generate potentially harmful by-products of ozone and other oxides that can be detrimental to our health.
Today, we spend a great part of our lives inside buildings with possibly unhealthy air conditions which can adversely impact our well-being. Restoring oxygen ions to the indoor environment is key to improving indoor air quality.
Rosalind Tan is the author of the Truth About Air Electricity & Health and the Managing Director of Dorea Pte Ltd, a company that promotes and distributes medical grade air ionizers throughout Asia. She teaches and advocates going "back to nature", for unless we align our ways according to those of nature, we can not attain optimal health and happiness.

A Guide To Nail Care

Nails are an important part of your hand but is often neglected and not given the care it deserves. By taking proper care of your nails, you can improve the look and feel of your nails. Well kept hands with clean and healthy nails are good to behold, while poorly kept nails will make your hand look dirty. Here are some tips for taking care of your nails:
1. When you need to trim your nails, it's best to do it after a shower or after soaking the hands in water for some time. After soaking they become more pliable and easy to cut without cracking. If you don't have enough time, you can skip soaking the nails before cutting.
2. When you are done with trimming your nails, use a cuticle stick and give a gentle push back to the cuticle. Don't worry, this shall not hurt. If your cuticles are cracking, skip this step. In this case, put a dab of cuticle oil on them after you take your shower for quick healing.
3. Nothing looks worse than a chipped nail polish. Wear clear polish to get a smooth and shiny feel for your nails. If you notice some peeling, reapply the polish on your nails. But it is also important to give your nails a break from nail polish from time to time. You can apply a nail hardening polish, which if applied daily will help to harden your nails and prevent them from chipping.
4. Nails get dehydrated just like skin, and more so if you use nail polish remover on a daily basis. When you are applying moisturizer on your face or body, apply a bit to your nails too.
5. Limit your use of remover to not more than once a week. Buy the acetone- free variety as acetone dries nails.
6. It is also important to keep your fingernails dry and clean. This shall prevent the growth of fungi, bacteria and other organisms under your fingernails. For protection, wear cotton- lined rubber gloves when washing dishes or using harsh chemicals.
7. If you have weak or brittle fingernails, nutritional supplement, biotin, can help strengthen them.
8. To harden soft nails, soak them in warm olive oil for 20 minutes on alternate days.
9. Consumption of organic silica, MSM and vitamin B will help fight brittle, dull or split nails.
Avoid:
1. Using your nails as tools to pick, poke and pry things.
2. Biting your nails or picking at your cuticles as they can cause damage to the nail bed. Even a minor cut along your finger nail can cause bacteria to enter and cause an infection.
3. Ignoring problems. If you are having some problem with your nails or cuticle that does not seem to go on it's own, consult your doctor or dermatologist for help.

Better Approaches To Cut Cholesterol

You know your cholesterol levels? Chances are those important counts are not the tip of your tongue.
That kind of ignorance can be dangerous, however. High cholesterol, which affects million of adults, is a top risk factor for heart disease. One of the leading killers of men-and women
And it is not only older men and women who should be concerned. It is myth that cholesterol is always low before age 45.

Now for the good news: Doctors are discovering better approaches to conquering cholesterol. These findings can help you set your unhealthy numbers right-fast.

Take HDL Regularly:
Monounsaturated fats, which are found in some nuts, as well as in olive and canola oils, lower “bad” cholesterol LDL (low density lipoproteins) when they are substituted for saturated fats. What’s more, they do not bring down HDL (high density lipoproteins), the “good” cholesterol.
If just less than half the saturated fat in a woman’s diet is placed with carbohydrates, heart disease risk goes down about 15%. But if that saturated fat is replaced with monounsaturated fat, the risk drop 35%.
Replace butter with olive oil, use skim milk instead of whole and try low-fat cuts of meat.
People with elevated cholesterol, an inherited lipid disorder (high cholesterol at a very young age) and those with heart disease should limit eggs to two per week.

Put Away Bad Cholesterol:
Get no more than 30% of calorie from fat. Yet reducing your intake of saturated fat continues to be the single most important step in lowering cholesterol. More than any at other food component, saturated fat, found mainly in meat and dairy products, stimulates the liver to produce artery clogging LDL. A smart diet would allow 20 grams a day of “bad” fat for healthy people.

Keep The Level Of Thyroid In Control:
Hypothyroidism is surprisingly common, especially in women. Left untreated, the condition can raise cholesterol levels significantly. Symptoms are subtle: tiredness, increased sensitivity to cold, hair loss, weight gain, joint stiffness and depression.

Control Your Weight:
In any group of people, the fattest will have HDL. Level 10 to 15% lower than the leanest.

Be Active:
Raising HDL by diet alone is tricky but the combination of exercise and strategic eating gets them up. Exercise also lowers triglycerides, the other blood fat linked to heart disease.

Avoid Daily Alcoholic Drink:
Though a daily alcoholic drink of any kind can rise HDL five to 10%, only red wine is loaded with antioxidant flavonoids that my discourage LDL from clogging arteries. Dark beer, nonalcoholic red wine and purple grape juice also has flavonoids, but in smaller amounts

Eat More Soluble Fiber:
Abundant in oat bran, rice bran, beans, peas, barley, citrus fruit, straw berries, carrots and apples, this fiber brings down LDL without lowering HDL. Some cereals are fortified with psyllium, a concentrated source of soluble fiber also found in laxatives. People with high cholesterol who regularly have 12 grams of psyllium a day can lower total cholesterol about 5%

Omega-3 Fatty Acids:
Found in salmon, mackerel and other fish, this fat can lower triglycerides. And since fish is low in saturated fat, it is a great way to cut total cholesterol and LDL too. Eat 85 to 110 grams several times a week.
