5 Tips to Boost Your Health in a Natural and Fulfilling Way

The body is a complex network of systems that has so many demands. One of the demands the body has is the right diet. When we eat, we give it what it needs, but sometimes it is important to supplement these foods with others in order for the body to fully achieve all its requirements. What are the different types of the supplements and their benefits in our bodies?
1. Vitamins
Vitamins are important. They are classified as micronutrients as they are not required in large quantities. They help to boost the health of our bodies. Different vitamins have various functions. They help to build up the immune system, joints and bones. Some of them enhance the absorption of some medication in the body. They also contain anti-oxidants that prevent against radicals produced in the body. All of them are available in the market as supplements.
2. Proteins
These are the body building materials in our bodies. They help the body to remain healthy by enabling the white blood cells to fight off diseases. These protein supplements can be found in form of some smaller substances called amino acids. These are essential especially in promoting the health of your skin, enzymes, hair and some body organs. Whey protein is another type or protein supplement. It is usually made from coagulates of milk. The best whey protein will also help in building up muscles.
3. Minerals
These can be major or minor. Most major minerals are found in the everyday foods that we take. However the minor ones need to be added to the body through supplementation. They may be called minor but they are important in our bodies. They maintain the functioning of the body. These can be gotten from nature or they be synthesized in the food labs and be provided in forms of tabs, capsules or syrups.
4. Fatty acids
These are fat derivatives. In as much as fat seems to be harmful to our bodies, there are some which are good. These are usually known as the good cholesterol and are essential to the functioning of our bodies. These fatty acids supplements can be derived from fish and other plant seeds which contain fats. They boost the functioning of the brain and also provide an alternative source of energy for the body.
5. Herbs
These are derived from plants. So many plants around us have health benefits. The locals know some while others have gotten approvals by the food and drugs administration. These need to be taken in moderation, as some are known to be toxic in large amounts. They can also interfere with the functioning of some other medications.
Supplements are widely available and in many forms. Remember though that natural foods are the best supplements you can have. Too much of these supplements may be detrimental to your health.

Drug Rehab Doctors' Qualifications

Drug rehab facilities and centers are places where people with substance abuse problems can go to seek resolution and help for their issues. These are important facilities in patients' recovery because these are where they get the support and encouragement that they need to get over their addictions. One of the more important things that these places should have is a qualified doctor and expert in the field. This is not to say that the expert needs to be an expert in chemical and substances but he or she needs to be experts in helping patient get over the addictions. Of course, the expert, preferably a doctor, should be aware of the steps. Methods and techniques in helping people steer clear from chemical substances and drugs that may be addictive. Since there are many different techniques and methods, it is imperative that the doctor be constantly updated and aware of the new developments.
Doctors and Counselors
Experts or doctors who supervise drug rehab centers needs to have a lot of know-how with regards to the relatively wide field of psychology that centers on substance and chemical addiction. For the most part, there are supervisors who are medical doctors and there are also counselors who are experts in the field of addiction. There are addiction specialists from the medical field who actually seek qualification and recognition for this very specific field. Once they are recognized in this field, they are allowed to dispense medicines in relation to the addiction that the patient suffers from. Counselors, on the other hand, are psychiatrists who are also well versed in the techniques and methodology of treating an addiction through psychology instead of purely through medication. Counselors can handle patients with addictions even if they are not medical doctors who are allowed to dispense medicines to their patients.
Compared to medical doctors who believe that they can treat their patients through the use of medication, counselors believe that the addiction can be treated through sessions of psychotherapy. Some experts also believe that introducing the desire to leave a healthy life can be a positive way of getting the patient off his or her addiction. The techniques that experts use to treat patients can differ widely and be dependent on the severity of the person abuse of the substance or chemicals. Certification to practice as addiction specialists in drug rehab clinics can be issued to those who undergo the right education or seminars in order to be considered as addiction specialists. Since there are several techniques and methods that these experts believe can treat addiction, choosing among them can be tricky. It is important to pinpoint the need of the patient as well as the root of the addiction. This can be difficult to do when the person who is doing the assessing is not an expert. Therefore, family and friends who care for the patient should initially assess the drug rehab clinic before bringing the patient over for his or her initial assessment with the expert.

Heroin: The True Story

There was a time and not too long ago when a heroin addict was looked at as the scum of the earth. Sure, many people would never openly admit that because it wasn't politically correct or maybe it was just fear that stopped them. Whatever the case was then, things have sure changed, which is odd since the potency of today's heroin is so much stronger than it was just a few decades ago.
The heroin addicts of today are different in almost every sense of the word. The number of them has increased dramatically and what used to be an early detection is no longer the case. Today's heroin addicts or junkies, if you will, can be anyone. Most of the time, the addiction begins with prescription pain pills and when those become harder to get it is almost a guarantee that someone will step forward to share how easy and cheap heroin is to get.
In fact, most of the heroin addicts of today are people that swore that they would never end up chasing the dragon, but they did. Considering that the U.S is in the midst of a pain pill abuse epidemic, it only stands to reason. Officials have been trying to reduce the number of prescription pain pills that are made available and in addition, people are receiving more education on the proper disposal of expired or unused medications and they are also being urged to keep medications under lock and key.
With these efforts, it has become harder to keep a pain pill habit alive. It is still not too difficult to birth the habit but in a shorter period of time the well is sure to dry up. That's where the heroin comes into play. So, the people that vowed never to touch heroin are now forced to give it a shot or get sick without. Unfortunately, this is where the addiction aspect gets really ugly. Someone that tells you that the heroin is cheap and easy to get fails to tell the whole truth.
They do not mention the fact that the heroin is only cheaper for the first week or so and just like with anything else as the tolerance develops the need for more increases. Because the heroin is more potent than ever before, most will start snorting it, which doesn't seem as bad to most as injecting it. The problem is that it doesn't take long before snorting it just isn't cutting it anymore.
Someone else is sure to cross your path that will ensure you how great it is to shoot it and most of the time if your too chicken to do it they will be quick to give you a hand and teach you the ropes. There is always someone who wants to make sure that you get the right drugs and do them correctly. These are the friends that, in the long run, are just happy to help you kill yourself. Why not, there isn't anything that a heroin addict won't do in the name of addiction.

3 Ways NOT to Kill Yourself

Have you ever heard this saying 'You are what you eat' that is so true in so many ways. We have to be care about what we put in our mouths. But it would all depend on what you want. Well, is what you want Real or Fake? Lets explain things in this term.
Love. There can be Real love, and there can be Fake love. Which one would you chose? Real love would mean that you don't to lie or hide, neither would you be lied to, or things be hidden from you.
Or, you can chose Fake love. Where all people want, is what you have, and not you. They want to use you for their own personal gain.
Which love sounds the best?
Being real, is likened to being original, or organic, nothing to hide to cover up.
Being fake is likened to being sneaky, and lie, and usually things does not turn out right.
So being real sound likes the best option. So if you like being original, organic, and let me add, honest? Wouldn't you want to eat real? Yeah, makes sense.
There are different foods we can eat. Organic or Processed foods.
Organic foods- Raw foods that are natural nutrition, and do not have any preservatives.
Processed foods- Food that is created and DOES NOT have the full amounts of nutrition a human should intake.
Processed foods are dangerous. They cause so many diseases and so many problems. These processed foods are what people are dying of. It is said to be that America is the most well fed country but has the lowest nutrition value.
If you not nourished and have supplements for your body you can die and your body would give out too soon. Food is like fuel to your body, just like your fuel to your car. If you don't put the right fuel in you car, your car can give out and probably won't start again.
Processed foods can come in many different arrangements here are 3 them.
  1. Partially Hydrogenated Oils- This material is very deadly. It almost found in every food item you buy at the grocery store. This is like a poison, and don't get deceived when it says 'Oils'. This material is nothing close to oil. The natural form of this oil is very healthy. But if you were to put poison in water, what would it be poison, or water? This oil starts off being healthy. Once the process starts they heat the temperatures high enough to a mental melting point. Once hot enough, they add catalyst to the oil (catalyst is found in nickles, and aluminum) this give it a thick appeal. Making it almost solid. This can effect you, terribly. Once inside your system your heart pumps harder that normal, the thickness of the oil is making your blood as thick as the oil. Creating high blood pressures, and heart attacks.

  2. (MSG) Monosodium Glutamate- Monosodium Glutamate is a salt that is converted in a flavor enhancer. This is mostly put in processed food (MSG is a processed material). They injected it into animals which caused weight to be gained to those animals, by disturbing the process hypothalamus (The part of the brain where you determine your appetite level) this cause a leptin resistance, (This is a hormone that controls what the person amount of food it consumes.) Once this MSG is lost it causes the person to want more. Leaving you an addict to it. Basically, a drug.

  3. High Fructose Corn Syrup- This was said to be healthy to the human body. Don't believe this myth., High Fructose Corn Syrup (HFCS) can cause heart attacks, diabetes, obesity, and even tooth decay. No part of this is considered healthy. You can usually find HFCS in sweetened drinks and sweet snacks.
If you don't eat wisely you die too soon.
You don't want to be that person who, won't take care of his or her health, until he or she has some type of disease or heart conduction. Or that person who have 4 bypass surgery because they were 99.9% clogged in 4 arteries. Be wise.

8 Easy Steps to Clear Skin

We all reach a point in our lives when we seek a clearer, fresher, much younger looking appearance. And I am here to tell you don't have to empty your wallet, you can make it happen the natural way! If you can stick with the steps below for just three weeks you can have fresher clearer looking skin. Let me show you how;
1. Your first task is keeping your skin clean. Clean your face in the morning and at night with a non abrasive, all natural cleaner that removes dirt from your skin along with grime and then finish up with a antibacterial ingredient. Tea tree oil is a very good choice.
2. Once your skin is clean you pat dry it and apply a good toning spray which will cool the skin closing the pores while still clean. Allow this spray to then dry on your face.
3. After the toner has dried put a small amount of skin moisturizer over your face and also neck. Find a skin moisturizer that is made for sensitive skin types and contains antibacterial ingredients like manuka honey and aloe. These are forgiving ingredients that are amazing at clearing the skin from unwanted blemishes and unsightly pimples.
4. Don't deprive yourself of the sleep your body needs every night, because it will show on your skin. 7-8 hours is plenty. Lack of sleep will bring about problems that can be difficult to cure such as sagging skin under the eyes and dark circles around them.
5. Your food intake is important for healthy, clearer younger looking skin! Consume fresh fruits often and vegetables and control the amount of red meat to 3 or 4 times during the week. Easily digested foods will allow your body to keep well nourished skin, and enable new cell development. Consume plenty of water also!
6. Every week use a body and facial scrub. Start at your feet and work upwards, this helps to get rid of toxins. If you do it the other way it allows those toxins to re-enter your body. Make sure to use a gentle facial scrub for your face and neck to avoid damaging your skin.
7. One day a month use a treatment of steam to pull impurities from your skin. What you need is boiling water and a large bowl. Add two drops of tea tree oil to bowl. Place your face over the bowl wrapping towel around face for good seal. This will allow the steam to open up the pores and clean your face.
Be careful and do not allow the steam to burn your face. Finish by washing face with warm water.
8. Go outside and take a walk to get that blood flowing, take a swim, just get outside and have some fun! Your skin will love you for it.
These eight easy tips will help you get that clear skin that you desire, also do not forget the lifestyle changes you need to make and enjoy the healthy looking skin that follows! A much clearer, fresher more younger looking complexion.

7 Best Upper Body Strength Exercises From a Medford Personal Trainer

Strength training is very important for any overall fitness program and having a strong upper body has many advantages. Having a high level of overall lean muscle can aid in a long term elevation of your metabolism and the upper body features some very large muscle groups including the pectorals major (chest), rhomboids and latissimus dorsi (back muscles) along with the entire shoulder girdle. Balanced upper body strength also helps develop good posture which can give the look of a lean, slim body. Another advantage is that effective strength training will develop a very athletic and fit body and everyone wants their arms to look good, right?
In terms of upper body training; I approach this as I would any other area. Train your larger muscle groups and movements because that is how the body moves and in doing this you burn more calories, recruit more muscle fibers, and elevate your overall work rate. This should be the staple of your program and then be sure to add in some accessory exercises in order to keep a balanced state around each joint and to prevent injuries.
All of these exercises will recruit large muscle groups which in turn burn more calories during the workout and elevate the metabolism for a long period of time after training.
Here are my top 7 upper body strength exercises and an explanation of technique:
1. Chin Ups
o Muscles targeted: Upper back, biceps, shoulders, abdominals
o Use a close, reverse grip with palms facing you
o Start with arms straight and retract your shoulder blades
o Look up toward the bar and drive your elbows down toward your ribcage as you elevate your chest to the bar
o Squeeze your upper back muscles as you get to the top
o Raise your chest as close to the bar as possible and slowly descend
o Perform as many as you can with good posture and no swinging
o These can be modified by placing a band or a partner's hand under one knee for support
2. Push Ups
o Muscles targeted: Chest, back, shoulders, biceps, triceps, abdominals, lower back, hip flexors, oblique
o Place your hands shoulder width apart with elbows facing back
o Elevate onto your toes and tighten up your abdominals, hips, and glutes
o Look at the floor and slowly lower your body down, trying to touch the floor with your nose
o Exhale as you forcefully push back up to the starting point
o Can be modified with medicine balls, physio balls, and weight vests for difficulty
3. Bench Press
o Muscles targeted: chest, shoulders, triceps
o Lie on the bench with your feet flat on the floor
o Grip the bar at a shoulder width position
o Squeeze your upper back muscles (lats) to help stabilize your shoulders
o Keep your lats and glutes tight to the bench for stability
o Take the bar off the rack and position it just above your chest, elbows locked out
o Slowly lower the bar to your chest without touching
o Forcefully drive the bar straight back up and exhale
4. Barbell Bent Over Row
o Muscles targeted: Upper back, biceps, shoulders, abdominals, lower back
o Slightly bend your knees, lean forward and push your hips back
o Flatten your lower back and tighten your abdominals
o Tuck your chin and position the weight below your belly button, arms straight
o Retract your shoulder blades
o Row the weight up to your ribcage, pausing at the top to squeeze your back
o Keeping your chin tucked and back flat, lower the weight to starting position and repeat
5. Dumbbell Standing Shoulder Press
o Muscles targeted: Shoulders, triceps, abdominals, lower back, oblique
o Position your feet shoulder width apart
o Hold 2 dumbbells, one at each shoulder
o Looking straight ahead, engage your abdominals
o Press the weight over your head with palms facing forward
o Exhale as you press and fully extend your elbows
o Slowly return weight to starting position and repeat
o Be sure to keep your back tight and straight as you raise the weight
6. Body Weight Dips
o Muscles targeted: Triceps, shoulders
o Position yourself on a dip bar with eyes straight ahead
o Place your hands in the middle of the bar and elbows pointed straight back
o Slowly lower your body down to the range of your shoulder joints
o Keep your elbows pointing back through the entire set
o Exhale and strongly push your body back up, locking out your elbows for maximum benefit
7. Ring Rows
o Muscles targeted: upper back, biceps, shoulders, abdominals
o Rings are rarely found in gym settings but if you can get your hands on these, they are great
o Set up the rings on the top of a squat rack at waist height
o Lie on your back with legs straight and retract your shoulder blades
o Grab rings and pull your body up as high as you can
o Squeeze your upper back and shoulders at the top
o Slowly lower to the bottom, keeping tension on your back
o Make these more difficult by elevating your feet or wearing a weight vest
All seven of these exercises are great for developing a lean and athletic upper body with great posture. Making these exercises the staples of your training program will ensure high levels of strength and calorie burn due to the intense nature of each movement.
Give these movements a try as a replacement to typical gym machines and isolated movements. Use these in conjunction with large lower body movements to develop a full body training plan of 5-7 exercises.

Strength Training - Why Do It and How to Start

It is generally well known that we lose bone mass as we age, a phenomena that affects women more than men and that far too often results in bones that are weak and prone to break, especially in the hips, wrists and shoulders. Unfortunately, although in many cases surgical procedures now produce excellent results (we have a number of clients that have returned to running after hip replacements), too many people don´t fully recover from the stress of the operation and never regain the quality of life that they previously enjoyed. In the worst cases, this leads to a sometimes rapid decline in general health and an untimely death.
It is widely accepted that weight-bearing exercise helps to slow bone loss and may even in some cases be able to reverse it, which is why "cardio" exercise such as walking and running (in moderation) can be very beneficial. However, when it comes to targeting the bones of the shoulders and arms, strength training is essential. Such exercises can also enhance the benefits of the weight-bearing cardio activity on other joints, probably because the effect of the tendons pulling on the bones stimulates bone repair or growth.
Equipment such as free weights, machines, resistance bands and medicine balls can all play a part in making strength training fun (or at least more fun!). However, you don´t have to invest in equipment or join a gym to do strength training. Body weight can also provide an effective training medium. If dedicating time to strength training really doesn´t appeal, adding a few press ups (or push ups for our American readers!) to your daily routine is a great place to start. When that becomes a habit, you can look at adding more exercises and developing your programme.
How do you start doing press ups when you can´t even do one?! Simple, do five! In my experience, it is best to avoid doing press ups on your knees, as very few people ever progress from there to the full exercise and therefore never reap all of the benefits of this "whole body" exercise. Instead, try this:
Adopt the standard press up position - Lie with the body raised off the floor, hands slightly wider than shoulder-width apart, arms extended and body straight.
  • Keeping the body straight, bend the elbows and lower the shoulders and hips towards the floor - only go as low as you can to be sure that you are going to be able to do five repetitions. If that means that you only flex the elbows one inch, great! Do five "1-inch press-ups" every time you get the chance.

  • With this approach, you will find that you quickly progress to making the final press up two inches, then three, then four and so on until you can do five full press ups. After that, keep adding repetitions until you can do twenty. You will be surprised how quickly you will progress with just a little bit of effort.
A few words on correct form:
  • Before starting the exercises, "activate the core" by lifting the chest, drawing in the stomach slightly and tightening the muscles of the butt (the "glutes").
  • When the arms are in the fully extended position, the shoulder blades should be "open". As you lower the body towards the ground, you should feel the shoulder blades move together.
  • Hold the head level. Fix the gaze slightly forward and actively engage the neck muscles to keep the head from dropping.
  • Breathe in on the way down and out on the way up.

Why Is Healthy Living So Damn Hard?

We all know the rules: eat healthy food, exercise for 30 (or 60 or 90 depending on who's talking) minutes a day, don't smoke, don't drink, don't don't don't. We know the rules but we break them every day!
We make New Year's Resolutions every single year, and we break them almost immediately. We promise ourselves, "tomorrow's the day" and then we break the rules. And we beat ourselves up over it.
I say "we" because everyone I've ever met does this: body builders, overweight office workers, grandmothers, kids, everyone. They just do it to varying degrees.
And if everyone does it, the first thing you can do is stop comparing yourself to everyone else who is "perfect" and finding yourself a mass of imperfection by comparison! Forgive yourself for your failures, your slips, your bad habits. Forgive yourself.
The second thing you can do is to stop thinking of your bad habits as "rewards". If you think of chocolate covered almonds as a reward, then whenever you feel bad you are likely to grab a handful of chocolate covered almonds. If you think of french fries as a reward, then you're going to eat this "bad food" too often. Start thinking of the long-term rewards of healthy living, instead of thinking of it as a punishment.
Next, keep a journal. A journal holds you accountable, to yourself. And you have to start thinking about your accountability to yourself. Internal motivation, or motivation that comes from within, is a stronger motivation than external motivation, or motivation that comes from others. No one else can keep you on track. And it's harder to lie to yourself and rationalize your bad behavior than it is to lie to others.
And lastly, baby steps! If you've been eating junk food for three meals a day for 20 years, you can't expect to have a perfect diet overnight. If you've never followed an exercise program, then you can't start with a full training regimen instantly. Start slowly and build up your good habits. Remember, it's taken a lifetime to create the bad habits, it's going to take a little while to replace them with good habits. The good news is that as you make small changes, you'll see the changes in your life. Not only will you get healthier, but you'll find yourself not even wanting your old habits back. I know it's hard to believe now, but soon fast food french fries will make you a bit queasy when you eat them.
(The exception to this rule is addiction, check with your doctor first, but often quitting cold-turkey is the most effective way to beat an addiction like smoking.)
These steps will keep you on track towards the healthy life that you want, and that you deserve.

How To Reduce Wrinkles Around The Mouth And Wrinkles Around Your Eyes?

Whenever you meet someone, your face is the very first thing they see. In fact, most people pay no attention at all to other areas of your body when they first meet you. As such, it is not really surprising that most people are so concerned about their facial appearance.
Acne sufferers have a never ending battle because once they manage to get rid of one unsightly pimple, the next one appears. Fortunately for them, acne can be totally eliminated by a few basic lifestyle changes. If a healthy diet is adopted, and chemical based skin care products are avoided, most people can rid themselves of acne.
The bad news for us older folk is that lines and wrinkles are far more difficult to get rid of. This is especially true when it comes to wrinkles around the mouth or eyes. Most of the products which can supposedly reduce fine lines and wrinkles end up failing miserably when you actually put them to the test.
All those celebrities you see who have such perfect complexions do not look that way because of one or other big name anti wrinkle cream. Their perfect complexions are a result of highly skilled makeup artists or highly skilled cosmetic surgeons.
Most brand name wrinkle creams contain an alarming number of chemicals, many of which have been linked to serious health risks. Several of them can certainly reduce wrinkles around the mouth and eyes, but the results are always short lived. Once the effects of the chemicals wear off, the lines and wrinkles return.
If you don't favor cosmetic procedures like laser treatments, and would rather rely on creams or lotions, then you definitely want to find and use products that contain only 100% natural ingredients. Below is a very short list of some ingredients which have been shown to be effective at reducing fine lines and wrinkles:
* Natural Vitamin E - Scientifically recognized as a powerful antioxidant, and studies have shown it can help to prevent age spots and can also help to reduce the appearance of fine lines and wrinkles.
* Nano-Lipobelle H EQ10 - This is a modified version of the much spoken about EQ10. With this newer "nano-emulsion" formula, the active ingredients are able to penetrate the skin a lot deeper than before, and in so doing, they are able to help stimulate natural collagen and elastin production.
* Avocado Oil - Avocado oil has been scientifically proven to stimulate collagen production, and what makes it a good choice is its excellent compatibility with oils that occur naturally in human skin.
* Grape Seed Oil - This is another natural ingredient which has shown extremely promising results in terms of reducing facial lines, and particularly those which are present on thin delicate skin, such as the skin around a person's eyes.
* Shea Butter - The benefits of Shea Butter are well documented, and it is considered by many to be the world's greatest natural skin moisturizer. It is readily absorbed by the skin, and as a result, you are not left with a greasy or oily film on your skin after applying it.
As is to be expected, there are many other natural ingredients which can help you to keep you skin looking vibrant and youthful. Everyone has their own personal favorites, and there is absolutely nothing wrong with that. The most important thing of all is that you keep chemical based creams away from your skin.

Drug Free Back Pain Treatments That Work

A growing number of Americans are suffering from back pain, these individuals are using a variety of novelty treatments that do not work and in some instances injure your back even more. If a person is experiencing back pain they should not ignore it and hope it gets better, pain is how the body tells us something is wrong and needs to be addressed. What most people do is take over the counter (OTC) pain medication to help numb the ache they feel in their back or try those novelty treatments they have seen on the Internet or television.
What a person should do is visit a local chiropractor who is a medically trained and licensed professional that specializes in the treatment of back pain. If you are scared about the costs of going to a chiropractor your medical insurance will cover most if not all of the services that the doctor provides.
Once you schedule an appointment with your local chiropractor the doctor is going to ask you a series of questions to get a sense of your overall health and whether you have conditions like hypertension or may be pregnant. After these initial questions have been addressed the chiropractor is going to have you go for X-rays to get a better understanding of your spine.
Now that the chiropractor fully understands the condition of your spine they will proceed to treat your back pain with their highly specialized chiropractic techniques. The techniques will bring your spine back to its normal shape while at the same time increasing the amount of blood reaching the tissue in your back. As the circulation increases in the area that is feeling pain you will notice the intensity decrease. The majority of people who go for treatments have reported an immediate improvement in their condition after the initial session with their local chiropractor.
You need to schedule an appointment with a chiropractor right away to have your back pain treated. With each passing day your condition will worsen until you reach a point where you cannot even get out of bed. By going to a chiropractor now you are going to experience a remarkable improvement in your overall condition without using any drugs or gimmicks.
When sourcing for a chiropractor to help you make sure they are licensed to provide these services. Are You Healthy And Wealthy?

Are you thinking, "What an odd question?" If you are, then maybe you aren't healthy and wealthy! As a business owner and fitness expert, I know that being healthy is really what makes the business wealthy.
How so? Well, if we are unhealthy and feeling out of sorts, we don't have the energy to run our business. We are not able to effectively execute all that we need to do as a business owner. We don't feel like doing it, plain and simple, and then we will force ourselves to do stuff. When we are sluggish and lethargic, everything seems to take so long. It feels like such an effort and we never seem to get anything done... and if we do, we find we have made tons of mistakes and have to re-do things.
This is no way to live!
However, when we are healthy we have a lot of energy to run our businesses. We go to networking events and put our best foot forward to connect with people and make follow-up coffee appointments to get to know the other person better. We effortlessly tackle our to-do lists and we complete so much more... and we do it right the first time! New projects excite us and everything is fun.
So you can see how being healthy leads to being wealthy. Today I am sharing with you three of my top tips for being-and staying-healthy while running and growing your business (and if you don't have a business, no problem, you can use these tips in living your life). When I follow these throughout my work day, I feel great and get more done which equals better health and wealth!
Tip 1: Get plenty of sleep. Most business owners (most people for that fact) don't get enough sleep. Give yourself a bedtime and stick to it. Create a routine around your bedtime so that you have plenty of time to wind down after your day. Research shows that we need more time than we think to get the sleep our bodies require. There is no sense jumping into bed without relaxing first because your body and your mind have no time to shift from being active to becoming (then being) inactive.
Tip 2: Drink plenty of water. Water is key to our survival. When we are dehydrated we feel tired, sluggish and irritated. Simply drinking enough water for your body weight is the key to keeping your energy levels up as well as staying focused on what you are doing. Plus you'll have breaks built in because you'll need to get up to go to the restroom! It's kind of like a failsafe so that you aren't stuck sitting at your desk or your workstation for ridiculously extended periods of time with no movement. Get a fun water bottle or glass and note how many ounces it holds, then aim to drink as many glasses to equal at least 32 oz. if not 64.

Tip 3: Take a break: You thought I was going to say exercise. Well yes, that is true. BUT really what needs to happen is a break, whether it is 5 minutes or a day off. When you work, work, work, you cannot succeed in being health and wealthy. The reason is that our brains and bodies need periods of rest to renew and refresh. Our thinking goes stagnant without breaks as does our bodies (that's where the exercise comes in).
That's it - start with those three simple tips and drop me a line on how you feel.

How to Get Better Results From Your Exercise Program

In order to achieve maximum benefit from an exercise program, it's important to get movement technique and control right. Good results won't be obtained by waving weights about vaguely, squatting and lunging in a wobbly, half-hearted way, doing Pilates without the spine in correct alignment or jogging along the street leaning forward, knees knocking together. An exercise program will be far more effective (and with less injury risk) if everything is performed with strong, controlled movements.
Weight training for the upper body, for example, should start with choosing the biggest weight that can be handled in a comfortable, controlled way. The participant should then concentrate on holding the rest of the body steady and in correct alignment, while taking the muscle being worked through its full range of movement. In this way, the muscle will be trained effectively, the postural muscles will have to work to hold everything else still and whole-body coordination will improve. Once a good movement pattern has been mastered, increasing weights will increase the benefits. Weights machines are often recommended because they make it easy to follow the correct movement patterns. This is fine for beginners, but moving on to free weights will develop a better sense of movement awareness and control, as well as train all the stabilising muscles.
Lunges and squats, with or without weights, are excellent toning exercises for the leg muscles but are more often than not done with bad form. Lunges are often done with the back leaning forwards or backwards, the ankles twisted, the feet too close together or too far apart, wobbling or not taking the muscles through full range. Similarly squats may be done with the lower back arched, not deep enough or too deep (effective, but can aggravate knee ligaments), heels lifting off the floor, legs too wide, etc. Poor control and technique limits the amount of effective work done, often causes already strong muscles to do all the work and increases the risk of injury.
High impact exercise like running can cause injury to knees and ankles if done with bad form and while running may help with weight loss and cardiovascular fitness, for body toning it is much better to do a fast walk with correct body alignment. By concentrating on holding the pelvis in neutral alignment while walking, toning of the backs of the legs and the muscles which pull the abdomen in flat is achieved.
The Pilates method is an exercise method which was devised to focus on alignment and control. Trying to do Pilates exercises without fully understanding what you are trying to achieve and how is more likely to bring injury than benefits. The whole point with Pilates is that the pelvis should be held in its correct alignment, but so often in group exercise participants are so keen to progress to more advanced exercises that they just end up doing the exercises wrong and compromising safety and effectiveness.
Many people are disappointed with the results they get from their fitness efforts and give up. There are lots of reasons why exercise programs may not deliver the expected results, but making improvements to exercise technique can often significantly improve training outcomes.

Cheap Medical Insurance—What Is Its Need?

Health insurance was never a compulsory product, but with the implementation of healthcare reforms, buying a health insurance policy is mandatory. Otherwise, the residents would be facing tax penalties. In the wake of such circumstances, it is important to understand what is cheap medical insurance? What is the need and how to get a policy that will suit the requirements of individuals?
The market is full of various types of insurance products offered by different companies and in different modes--the idea is to land on a health plan policy that offers optimal level of coverage within the lowest budget. Consumers should remember that cheap health insurance should not be cheap in coverage it provides. There is no point in buying a health insurance coverage that does not serve the purpose of coverage.
The need of finding a cheap health insurance coverage is great and sometimes appears to be mounting. It is important at the same time to learn and understand how to buy a medical insurance coverage.
When considering which insurance to buy, there are many things to consider. Does the scheme have options for hospital cover? Is there any advance payment to be paid to make the health plan policy active? Like this, there could be a huge checklist of things that consumers need to take care before they can finalize a health plan policy.
Reading some articles online, it appears that while employer-paid group health is a very convenient benefit, the fact is that only about 54% of Americans have that coverage. What about the rest of the population? They have to make independent purchase of health plan which often is not affordable and falls out of budget limits. Even if we include the population that is covered by government-sponsored programs like Medicaid, Medicare and various state-based programs, there is 16% population that remains completely without medical insurance.
It becomes utterly necessary to find a health insurance coverage that can be called cheap in terms of budget but comprehensive in terms of coverage.
Some items to consider before finalizing on any health insurance coverage:
The cheap health insurance policy should provide optimal coverage.
The cheap medical insurance policy should not cost more than stipulated budget.
The cheap medical insurance policy should not have a very long activation or waiting period.
The cheap medical insurance policy should provide emergency services.
The cheap medical insurance policy should provide x-ray services
Apart from these coverage types, there are many individually-based requirements that individuals can choose while selecting the policy. It is important to take care of the needs of dependents if the family members are also to be included in the coverage. In fact, it is advisable to have dependents in the individual medical insurance coverage because on average it becomes economical.
Finally, sitting with colleagues, friends, family members and even experts could give the consumers a better idea as how to buy a cheap medical insurance coverage.

3 Types of Physical Fitness Benefits That Will Change Your Life

When people think about physical fitness benefits, they usually overlook the psychological benefits. Some of these mind-related benefits can help the way you function intellectually as well as emotionally. Best of all, you may find that you feel more positive about the world in general. Describing this state of mind isn't easy, but you'll recognize it when you experience it.
Perhaps it is a cumulative effect due to greater blood circulation, endorphin release, and feeling good about accomplishing something positive. Yet many people don't know where to begin when it comes to fitness. So that is why the most important thing is to just start somewhere. Set up a series of goals and do them one by one. The following are some of the physical fitness benefits that can help to motivate you.
After working, you feel really good because of brain chemistry. Twenty to thirty minutes of exercise causes your brain to release endorphins. Endorphins are made-up of proteins, and they are also called neurotransmitters, which act as a natural pain reliever in your body. They are what is responsible for that feeling of euphoria, or natural high, that can accompany strenuous activity. When you experience this pleasant feeling, it creates a strong, positive association with exercise in your mind. One benefit of regular fitness exercise is one many people overlook - it can be fun. No kidding, and if you have a family, then you can make physical activity a family activity. If you are single with friends, or children, then you can still do the same thing. Make plans for group activities with a fitness component to them. This allows you to have fun while getting in some exercise. And this way, exercise doesn't get in the way of your socializing. An exercise session doesn't always have to be like going to boot camp. You can still get in a good work out and take care of several things at the same time.
You will also notice improvements to your mental outlook and well being when you exercise regularly. Because you burn of the day's tensions when you exercise, you will feel more fresh. Exercising will also increase your confidence and vigor. There are many reasons for this but what's really important is feeling good. If you can squeeze in a work out during the day, when you return to work afterward, you will feel great. So there are psychological benefits as well as physical ones from exercise.
If you want to gain the maximum benefits from exercise, you have to do it regularly. People who take up exercise programs that they actually enjoy tend to stay with them for the long haul. If you try to make yourself do something you don't like, you'll be making it a lot more difficult for yourself. Fitness doesn't have to be a burden, if you make sure you pursue activities that are fun and stimulating for you.

How Massage Can Help You and Your Child With Autism

The recent CDC statistics that were released show that 1 in 50 children have Autism Spectrum disorder! This is an alarming increase from the last CDC statistics that estimated closer to 1 in 80. he CDC found more children above the age of 7 (above the age of normal diagnosis) which may account for the higher statistics. With the upcoming combination of what historically been several types of Autism into one encompassing Autism Spectrum Disorder or ASD it creates a need for possibilities of treatment for the wide range of ages and symptoms with children diagnosed with ASD.
Massage is a great treatment option as it is not only low cost but helps facilitate and nurture a stronger bond between child and parent. The many benefits that may come from using massage are: improvements were seen in sleep patterns, on-task behavior, parent and child communication, increased positive responses to being touched, positive social interaction, motor skills, sensory function, language function, and general health. There are a lot of scientific data that backs up all of the benefits but results can still vary on each individual child..
Sleeping is a monumental issue with children of all ages, and something that parents can attest to after a long night of walking their child back to their room! A study done introduced the use of Touch to several families with ASD children, not only did the parents feel more in control and closer after the Touch training was done but also gained the perception by parents of the children as having improved sleep patterns, children were more relaxed after receiving the massage and appeared more open to touch1.
Children with autistic spectrum disorders (ASD) can often have trouble with attention behaviors which impact development of social interactions and relationships with others. In a study aimed at exploring how aromatherapy massage could increase shared attention behaviors, Steve Solomons, assistant head teacher at Rectory Paddock School and Research Unit in London set out to explore these issues. The children's responses were observed through the introduction of Aromatherapy. The results indicate that the children's shared attention behaviors increased during aromatherapy massage and other positive behavioral changes2.
Alternatively, standardized tests showed a decrease in common autistic behaviors, improvement in motor skills, sensory function, general health and language development in children. Using medical Qigong massage twice weekly from the physician and adding in daily massage from parents for a five week period created these results.
Multiple studies have shown that through the use of massage, children with ASD have seen improvements in wandering, more time showing on-task behavior, less time showing negative responses to being touched, and less time resisting the teacher than those in the control group4. Others reaffirm the use of massage as a way to improve social relatedness behavior during play observations at school, and fewer sleep problems at home5.
With all of the documented reasons why to start massaging there are some considerations to keep in mind. Similar to any medical treatment, consultation and guidance of a healthcare provider is a necessity! Important things to remember when massing your child is to always ask the permission, keeping the child involved is key, additionally adjusting and adapting your massage strokes for your child taking care and caution, making eye contact and continually using verbal and visual ques during the massage.
